Throughout 2017 the Yolo County Board of Supervisors will discuss a variety of cannabis issues at the 2nd Board meeting each month. The policy topics include manufacturing, distribution, dispensaries, product safety, testing laboratories, setback requirements, cultivation zones, youth prevention education, community impacts, and more. These discussions may lead to a comprehensive cannabis ordinance prior to full implementation of State policies. Click here to see the Cannabis Policy Discussion Calendar. Click here for a list of Frequently Asked Questions related to Yolo County’s interim cannabis cultivation policies.
The Board will also consider placing a tax measure on the November 2017 ballot. This revenue source would support unfunded impacts related to cannabis, such as education, public health, and law enforcement.
In addition to the Board considering each item, the Planning Commission will be consulted and a robust community engagement process will be deployed. Yolo County staff will seek feedback through community meetings, online surveys, social media, and advisory groups.
I’m looking forward to our continued conversation on this topic as we discern the best role for Yolo County and our residents with this emerging industry. As always, I’m interested in your perspective and questions on this topic.
