Housing

Despite economic growth, poverty remains high in the State of California.  In Yolo County one in five households live in poverty, and one in three struggle to pay rent.  Yolo County Housing reports that 22,750 individuals (11% of the population) are on the wait list for affordable housing.  Access to affordable and stable housing is one of the most effective tools to combat poverty.

  • Supporting our Homeless Residents - In 2015, Supervisor Saylor and Mayor Pro Tempore Robb Davis convened a summit to discuss homelessness and how to best bring the “housing-first” model to Davis.  In response to the energy and ideas generated during the summit, Supervisor Saylor advocated for expanded funds for homelessness services.  A project proposal with the City of Davis is now in development.
