We endorse Saylor's candidacy
By Helen Thomson & Lois Wolk | Letter to the Editor | The Davis Enterprise | March 09, 2010
Together, we have spent more than 55 years representing the Davis community at different levels of government, including a combined 20 years of service on the Yolo County Board of Supervisors representing the 2nd District. We believe we know the district well; the people and the issues, as well as the challenges ahead.
This June, voters will be selecting a new supervisor for the 2nd District and we are pleased that Don Saylor, currently the mayor pro tem of Davis, has chosen to seek the position.
We know Don well and have worked with him on many issues since he became a Davis school board trustee in 1995. Since then, he has impressed us with his tireless energy and strong commitment to making our community a better place. We especially appreciate his ability to listen to the many varied perspectives in a city where strongly held opinions often clash and finding common ground is difficult. Don treats people with respect and always works toward a positive solution.
Don Saylor's problem-solving approach will serve us well. Yolo County faces tremendous challenges in maintaining an acceptable level of service amid severe budget cuts resulting from the economic recession. We believe Don is the right person for these times.
We are pleased to endorse Don Saylor's candidacy to serve on the Yolo County Board of Supervisors.
